I believe that satisfied clients are the cornerstone of our business and I am thankful for the opportunity to serve with compassion, empathy and high-energy enthusiasm.
Real estate is my “third career.” I started as a High School French teacher, worked in retail banking holding several real estate and administrative positions prior to entering residential real estate sales in 1986. It is my passion! I am energized by finding housing solutions for our clients. As a member of a dynamic team, I work with both buyers and sellers.
I consider it a privilege to guide buyers through the intricacies of a home purchase, a major life decision for most buyers. I especially enjoy helping our clients formulate a successful strategy and orchestrating the myriad details for our buyer’s ultimate success.
When representing sellers, my usual role on the team is to guide our clients through the very significant and complex disclosure and inspection process. I understand that for most sellers this is a daunting task. My personal goal is to help them through with patience, encouragement and a sense of humor.
The entrepreneurial aspect of residential real estate remains exciting to me. I believe that satisfied clients are the cornerstone of our business and I am thankful for the opportunity to serve with compassion, empathy and high-energy enthusiasm.
When did you start selling real estate?
1986
Where did you grow up?
I grew up internationally and lived in Colombia, Algeria, and France before returning to the United States
Where do you live now?
I live in Menlo Park with my husband.
What is the most satisfying transaction you’ve been a part of?
We were contacted by past clients who had outgrown their one-level home. They wanted to purchase a larger home with a big yard with plenty of room for their children to play. About 3 weeks later we were referred to a couple who lived in a lovely two-level home with a sizable yard. They wanted to move to a one-level home in the same neighborhood. The husband had developed Parkinson’s Disease and his mobility was rapidly declining. It was important to them that they be able to continue their neighborhood walks in a familiar setting. After listening to them we described our other clients’ situation and asked if they would like to be introduced to the family with the smaller one-level home in their neighborhood.
The clients met each other and toured their respective homes, both expressing interest in arranging a trade, satisfying their respective needs… and fast forward ten+ years we have represented these clients again, and placed them in new locations, but we have very fond memories of this unique and special real solution.
Most rewarding part of your job?
“Home” reflects more than shelter; it reflects the sense of peace and security of each homeowner. During 2020 “home” has also become the office, the school room, the restaurant, the gym…..it is central to all aspects of life. Whether a client is selling or buying, it is a privilege to be invited to be a trusted confidante and advisor in such an integral part of their life. Adding value and contributing to their unique real estate success is the greatest reward.
What is the most unusual thing you’ve been asked to do as a Realtor?
Over a span of a few years we represented several members of a family for their real estate transactions. One day I received a phone call from one of them letting me know that her brother-in-law had unexpectedly died at his home, and that the death had gone unnoticed until neighbors reported an accumulation of newspapers.
The family learned from the officials that accessed the home that the home was in complete disarray. They concluded that seeing the property as described would leave lasting painful memories of their deceased family member. They asked if I could step in for them and oversee getting it cleaned up before they arrived to handle the disposition of personal property.
The job involved specialized decontamination cleaning, collection and safekeeping valuable items and arranging to return a long-overdue rental car to SFO.
I was honored that they trusted me enough to confide in me and that they gave me an opportunity to help them with a very painful situation.
How do you take your coffee?
Black, and preferably in my garden, on the deck of a cruise ship, in Paris, or sitting in a piazza in Florence.
